Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 Episode 5 Review + Amiciness Picks

Dana is pleasantly surprised that she got FCO last week because she felt she was out of her element. Adela said that she underestimated Dana and that now she’s one to watch. All of the girls are sad that Han is gone.

Beauty: This week no matter what happens I’m not going to cry.

It’s time for the alumni mentors’ daily visit. Thanh Vy thinks she’s the weakest in the competition and needs to be better. Shikin suggests the girls to find their edge. Monika is super happy at Dana’s FCO. Pim’s goal is to be more serious so she can have her own photo on the wall. Tu thinks Adela was overconfident at the beauty shoot. Beauty feels her standing in the competition is like a rollercoaster. Tu: “Stop crying. Please. Not anymore.” 😂 Adela wants Beauty and her to fight it out and be the final two.

Challenge: Roller Derby

The girls arrive at the Roller Dome Emporium Bangkok to watch a roller derby in action.

Thanh Vy: I look like a shrimp.

Apparently, the lesson of this activity is perseverance and grit. Okay.

Mia is having difficulty standing in the roller skates. Dana has had experience so she’s a natural. The national roller derby team are teaching the girls the basics. And the first lesson is how to fall down. Some hits. Then they proceed to skating around the… rink? court? Most of the girls repeatedly fall down. But Pim and Dana are just comfortably skating around. Beauty falls to the floor on her tailbone. Ouch. Injury? Then immediately for commercial, a sneak peek of medical drama New Amsterdam. 😂

Then the girls try a game… but it’s basically the Dana and Pim show. Dana wins the first game for the white team. Dana wins again for the second round.

Thanh Vy: I don’t wanna skate ever again in my life.

The girls get to take home their pink, bedazzled roller skates. And another good news: no challenge scores.

Reward Winner: Dana, Jachin, Adela, Beauty (No challenge score)

Photo shoot: She’s In Fashion

The girls need to pop out of a life-sized magazine editorial. Twist: the girls will need to shoot the photo with their own alumni mentors. I’m still unclear about the concept: it’s a grocery-themed photo, complete with shopping cart, baskets, and fruits. They’re also styled a bit crazy-trashy too: eccentric glasses, rollers in the hair, flowy dresses with fringe. So Yu Tsai says that they just need to be “too cool for school.” Well this theme is tailor-made for Dana, I think she will nail this.

  • Pim and Monika
  • Dana and Monika
  • Thanh Vy and Shikin
  • Mia and Shikin
  • Jachin and Shikin
  • Adela and Tu
  • Beauty and Tu

Thanh Vy wasn’t inspired, as was her mentor and everyone else on set. Jachin feels the pressure of the competition and breaks down. She doesn’t want to disappoint herself and her family. Shikin felt the same way during her cycle and she wants Jachin to pull through and not let the stress get to her.

Tu to Adela: Wow. Dayymmm girl!

Tu is just the gift that keeps on giving. 👏 She’s impressed with her two girls’ performance.

Deliberation

Indonesian model-actress Jessica Iskandar joins our two resident judges.

Pim: The judges didn’t like the facial expression.

Dana: The judges think that the shoot was made for her, and they love the photo.

Beauty: Yu Tsai thinks she needs to be more confident, because she pulled off an amazing photo this week. “Beauty is back!” says Cindy. It looks editorial-ready.

Thanh Vy: The judges don’t see the “too cool for school” vibe.

Mia: Yu Tsai feels that she is very rehearsed. Mixed reviews.

Jachin: She really needs to dig deep because the judges know that she is capable of giving great photos.

Adela: The judges think that she wasn’t on brief, but it’s the only one where they feel like they want to buy the outfit.

👑 FCO: Beauty

⚠ Bottom 2: Thanh Vy & Jachin

❌ Eliminated: Jachin

  1. I got a feeling that there’s a conspiracy why they didn’t have the challenge scores because it might pull Jachin scores even if they choose a bad photo of her. Thanh Vy should be the one eliminated there are rumors that there’s a callback for this cycle I hope it’s true fingers crossed.

    1. Nah! It doesn’t make sense to give a score for the roller derby challenge because the skill levels among the girls were very uneven. If they did that then only Dana and Pim would probably get high scores. Plus, the activity had nothing to do with modelling at all, so that challenge didn’t even make sense. :))

Unfortunately, I don’t think there would be a callback. 🙁

    1. Thai contestants for the Top 5 then at least one in the Top 3 as a gesture being the host country. A possible winner maybe since there was rumor Beauty was not the winner.
