Quick Art Tips for A More Creative You

Creative Flatlay and Color Mixing Workshop held by Tippy Go of Googly Gooeys and organized by Nuffnang Philippines in partnership with Faber Castell Philippines.

I have been doing art ever since I could remember. My brother and I used to make still-life drawings and paintings instead of sleeping at siesta time (to our grandmother’s dismay 😂). As we grew older, we really got into anime so after doing homework, we would sketch our favorite Ghost Fighter and Dragon Ball Z characters on our own sketchbooks. Looking back, I was lucky to have been introduced, though self-taught, (I was an eager child! 😅) to art at an early age. Life was simpler then. No internet, no need for likes and validation, just mere expression through art. ✍

Tippy Go shares how she started her career in art and blogging with an anonymous Tumblr account that starred Tipsy and Pongo.

Fast forward to today, as a young professional trying to strive in the working and blogging world, I tend to overthink whatever I create. 😱 May it be a blog post, an art piece or a mere Instagram post. I know what you’re thinking, it should all be simple. In reality or at least in my mind, it was not. Continue reading “Quick Art Tips for A More Creative You”

That Time I Tried Live Nude Sketching

I like to try a lot of things. Sige lang nang sige! is also my personal mantra. So… I was scrolling my Instagram feed when I saw the post below on Lifedrawing Setup (hosted and organized by WHOAREMARO). Without hesitating, I inquired and eventually registered. Just like that (thanks to impulsive me) I was registered to a live nude sketching workshop!

The thought of it made me really anxious. Not because of the nudity but the part that I had to draw quickly. I had none to little experience in live sketching. My last fast sketch was two years ago when I was still taking art classes. I didn’t draw bodies and my forte were portraits. Faces to be exact, not to mention it would take me hours to finish a drawing!

That platform in the middle is where the models do their poses.

Should I push through with this? I tried asking my friends to come with me but no one was available. I’m an over-thinker but I’m always up for a challenge. I’m used to doing things alone anyway.*sighs* An “artist”‘s gotta to do what an artist’s gotta to do!

I arrived late, which was out of my character. I headed straight to the venue from watching Ako Si Josephine. The traffic was awful and I got off my uber before the call time BUT AT THE WRONG VENUE.

Purchase of the Week: Lang Leav and Other Buys

While waiting for my Calligraphy Class (I’ll share that in another post), I did some shopping at Fully Booked. I was glad I didn’t stay elsewhere or else I could have bought unnecessary stuff and regretted them! Whew! The last book that I read was All the Bright Places by Rainbow Rowell and currently, I’m still reading Never Let Me Go (That’s thanks to Andrew Garfield!) by Kazuo Ishiguro, which I bought in 2014. So it was about time for me to shop for my bookcase and that was enough reason for me to not feel guilty about my purchase. Confession: I’m a recovering shopaholic. And my list includes Lang Leav! <3

Blogging about my latest purchase to make me feel not guilty. HAHA.

Drum roll please! Here are the items of my purchase of the week after the jump.

You Won’t Believe What This Guy Made out of Hundreds of Rubik’s Cubes

Who would have known that solving Rubik’s cubes can be so romantic? How could a 3-D puzzle cube bring me the feels? Well this guy did it:

My friend Macon celebrated her birthday last week. Her boyfriend, Kelsey, made her this surprise video that blew everyone away, myself included. The final result will astound you.

What is that? Abstract art?

Macon and Kelsey both attended and met in the same university. But it was only in the workplace that they made their relationship official. This is probably the sweetest birthday gift I have ever seen.

Kelsey used 200 Rubik’s cubes to make the four different frames. Each frame took 2 hours to make. I’m amazed at that amount of dedication! Macon is one lucky girl! 😀

How I wished I lived the 20 something years of my life the way I lived the recent months. I used to dwell too much on the details, let the little things ruin my mood, my day and judgment. I cared too much on pleasing people who treated me differently. Tried hard to the extent that I compromised my own well-being. Well, I learned that there’s a bigger picture to be appreciated. And that the world is big and small at the same time. I learned to let go. Of people, expectations, memories and could-be’s. To live and keep on moving. #26th
