Amiciness Goes on a VL: Surigao

This is a very late post but I have to say that this has been one of the most amazing travels ever! EVER! Amiciness Goes on a VL featured Oriental Mindoro last January, which was short and sweet, but my trip to Surigao set the bar high for my travels throughout this year. I’ve been hearing about Surigao since I was in grade school but I never really knew what it looked like. Too bad, none of my teachers told me it was paradise. I should have gone there sooner. I want to go back! Take me back!

🎶Is it too late now to say Surigao?🎶

My friends and I booked a promo flight bound to Butuan City because the flight to Surigao City is way more expensive. Can you believe that this was my first flight for 2016 (and only flight as of August)? I was excited (since I filed a three-day vacation leave for this) but I didn’t know what to expect. I was just really looking forward to dive in the Hinatuan Enchanted River but this part of the south offered more than that. Surigao completely blew me away. I wanted the trip to go on forever, and ever, and ever.

Tinuy-an Falls
Blew me away, literally!

Hito (Catfish) Lunch and River Tubing

Day 4– From Bajada, we took a jeepney (Php 8) to a van terminal near a public market. We could not remember where it was exactly but the L300 vans would take you to Calinan proper (Php 26).

#Travel : Davao, Life Is Here (Day 2)

image

Day 2– From Damosa, we took a cab to Sta. Ana Wharf to ride a ferry to Santa Cruz Wharf, Talicud Island.

Davao’s taxi drivers never cease to amaze us with their kindness and professionalism. They never reject passengers (as long as you are a company of 4 people). Our cab fare was Php 90. I was not paying attention to the time so you can do the math. Transportation in Davao is such a breeze compared to Manila.

#Lahar: Pinatubo Adventure

imageMount Pinatubo is one of the more popular volcanoes in the Philippines next to the perfect coned Mayon Volcano and the small but terrible Taal Volcano. It is located somewhere in between Zambales, Tarlac and Pampanga provinces. The last time the volcano erupted was in 1991. According to some websites, prior to this eruption, Pinatubo last erupted more than a thousand years ago. Wow! Now I know why the eruption is considered one of the largest eruption in the last century.

Anyway, this summer, I had a chance to go to Mount Pinatubo. Naturally, it was just one memorable and fun experience.
